Femme Warriors!
This piece serves as a vibrant, tactile manifesto on the strength and audacity required to simply exist, exploring the resilience of the femme identity through high-saturation color and unapologetic femininity. As the debut work on my custom-built, large-scale frame, it represents a significant evolution in my practice, transitioning fiber art into a commanding, sculptural presence. Now nearing completion, the piece has been mounted on a wood canvas—a choice that mirrors the theme itself by taking the traditional "softness" of the feminine experience and grounding it in a rigid, structural strength. To finish the narrative, I am currently crocheting custom potion bottles and vines to accent her side. The rest of the exposed word on the edges is covered with Legos.
Bringing this vision to life has been a labor of love, requiring well over 40 hours of work and a steep learning curve. The deep, intense hand-carving process was grueling, teaching me a vital lesson about the immense effort required for this level of dimensional depth; moving forward, this specialized technique will command a higher price point.
